Times are Changing

It has been a while since I have posted any photos, but don't worry I have still been snapping away. I just had to fall back a little bit and focus on completing my school work so I can be completely focused on my photography. I have been working on self-portraits lately. People don't realize how much of your emotions are expressed on your face even when you are not fully conscious of what you are truly feeling. In this first photo I was enjoying a beautifully warm and sunny day in the backyard. Sitting in the shade of the patio umbrella, I revelled in the golden rays while taking this photo. The next photo was done on another particularly sunny day but I felt like taking photos indoors. Using my Evolt E-410 and my tripod I angled and tested until my photos came out to my liking. My goal was to get the indoor lighting just right to show off my features, my skin tone and a clear view of my freshly re-twisted locs. I had began to notice my affinity for the color blue during this time so I decided to make a conscious change for the next photo... I switched to a color that I rarely wear but is flattering. I also switched cameras on this next one and used my Kodak camera. I was relaxed but trying to look serious at the same time. How do you think I did? Send me a comment or a suggestion for photo ideas. The weather is not normal right now. I am experiencing October weather in July and that is distorting my photography ambitions... Next time I'll have more photos for you to enjoy. Until then PBY (Peace Be with You).

Photography updates

This is me. As seen by my Olympus E-410. The eyes are the windows to the soul. What do you see when you look into my eyes? Is it anything really telling?
This shot was composed by me on a lazy Sunday afternoon when I felt like playing with my camera. I used my standard 14mm Zukio lens and the 12 second timer. Me, my head was propped up on a pillow as I lay on the couch. I took several shots and this one was one of my favorites. More self-portraits will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, I met a photographer on craigslist who wanted to put together a group to take night time photos throughout Philadelphia. I signed up quickly and the first outing I attended was beautiful. I was able to capture some extraordinary shots of City Hall and some of the buildings in center city. The infamous Clothespin was one of my first targets with my camera. I had a lot of fun and there are more night time outings being scheduled even as I type this. Sometimes I am amazed at the outcome of these pictures. I have always loved other people's photography because I didn't believe I would be able to do what they did, but here I am taking photos just as good as the ones I used to admire. These photos make me proud and encourage me to take more photos under different settings and in different areas. I will have fun with this photography group. Keep an eye out for more photos!

Close Ups of Me (C.U.M.)

Spent a little time in a photographer's studio over the last few weeks. Amazingly creative people they are! Just where I need to be. Afterwards I took the liberty of arranging my own photos. Haven't invested in equipment just yet to work like the pros. I must say not bad though, needs a little tweeking with the lighting is about all...
This next photo is beautiful. I love how easily the timer allows you creative maneuvering room. I have yet to use my tripod since the winter but this summer I will shake the dust off and get some really gorgeous shots off. Just watch out!

Near The Horizon

I have been learning to drive over the last several weeks. Summertime is coming and I need a way to get around to take more beautiful shots with my camera. I have spoken to a sales clerk in the Ritz Camera shop and a digital SLR camera was suggested if I truly want to take amazing pictures. That is my goal eventually. For this shot I used a 2 second timer and the beauty of an arm rest inside the car. The next shot was taken on a different day with me in the passenger seat but I used the 2 second timer and the window pane. Improvisation during photo sessions are sometimes necessary and look at the results, what do you think?

Fun in the Sun

Sat at Penn's Landing utilizing the beautiful day.... The sun was shining, the boats were out, schools were on field trips, it was an overall beautiful day. I even saw people setting up for the Jazz concerts held during the summer. Captain Morgan flags flying in the breeze. Once I got started I couldn't...
...Couldn't help myself.

Do you see what I mean?
